I think sports betting is like any thing else. The more you know, the better chance you have at doing well at it.
I'm a big college football fan so that's where I spend most of my money and time at. I probably could do a better job if I did spend some more time at it.
I also have a couple of friends who do quite well at it and they'll give me some tips from time to time.
I really don't know if there's any sure fire system out there. There are some trends to look out for. Some teams play better on the road than they do at home, some teams overall just cover the spread better than other teams.
One thing about sports lines is they are not necessarily setting the line where they think the game will end up. They set the line hoping they will get equal money on both sides of the bet. So a lot of times a popular team (Like Notre Dame) will have a higher line if they are playing an unknown, but a very good team (someone like TCU).
In a game like the the true line might be a pick em, but they more than likely will make Notre Dame a favorite. The reason being is because they know there are more people out there that are willing to put money on Notre Dame. They hope that by giving TCU a few more points it might level the betting out. If the betting is leveled out, then the house really isn't gambling, they are just collecting the 10% juice.
